What is a payment receipt?
A payment receipt is a formal document issued by a seller, service provider, or business to confirm that a payment has been received. It is the final document in a financial transaction, providing written proof that money changed hands between two parties.
Unlike an invoice — which requests payment — a payment receipt confirms that payment has been completed. It records the exact amount paid, the date of payment, the method used, the parties involved, and what the payment was for.
